The new edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar began with a bang in Skaventide, and the first of the new battletomes is now burrowing its way from Blight City – accompanied by a horde of miniatures.
Battletome: Skaven
After their subsequent victory at Hel Crown, the Skaven are surging across Aqshy and the rest of the Mortal Realms, drowning the lands of Order in warpfire and woe. The conquest continues in Battletome: Skaven, the complete guide to these skittering fiends filled with background lore, rules, and miniatures galleries.
This 128-page hardback book features a comprehensive list of Battle Traits, Battle Formations, Heroic Traits, Artefacts of Power, and Spell, Prayer, and Manifestation Lores, along with 43 warscrolls covering every unit currently available to the Skaven faction. It also contains rules for the Gnawfeast Clawpack Spearhead, two Armies of Renown, and two Regiments of Renown.
Battletome: Skaven – Gamer’s Edition
Gamer’s Edition battletomes are a new format for the latest edition of Warhammer Age of Sigmar. They are printed in a smaller format to make looking up rules easy in the thick of battle, and come with all the same content as the full-size versions. They also come with an indispensable pack of rules reference cards – 61 in this instance – comprising all your Warscroll cards, Spearhead Rules, Armies and Regiments of Renown, and other crucial rules. Spearhead: Skaven
Unleash the might of the Warpspark Clawpack in Spearhead: Skaven, a diverse band of ratmen led by a Grey Seer, who commands three Stormfiends, a Warp Lightning Cannon, and 20 new Clanrats. Rules for using this Spearhead will be available to download for free on Warhammer Community upon release. It’s the perfect entrypoint to the Spearhead game mode, and a brilliant basis for a larger Skaven army.
Vizzik Skour, Prophet of the Horned Rat
When the Great Horned Rat joined the pantheon of Chaos Gods, it required a prophet. With its powers ascendent it created a monster of singularly majestic power to lead the Great-Grand Gnaw Horde. As vermin scurry around its unholy raiment and glorious horns, Vizzik Scour twists the fabric of reality with its sorcerous might, directing the forces of Skavendom with terrifying aplomb.
Krittok Foulblade
Few Clawlords are as adept at command as Krittok Foulblade, a remarkably long-lived Skaven whose advanced years are held at bay by bargaining with the Verminlord trapped within his sword. The daemon’s power allows Krittok to fight with the vitality of his younger days, but at a price – for each time the Clawlord calls upon it, its freedom edges closer.
Arch-Warlock
The Clans Skryre are ruled by Arch-Warlocks – ambitious sorcerer-engineers whose health and sanity have long since been sacrificed on the altar of progress. Warlock Galvaneer
Although the power of warp lightning has put an end to many a bare-tailed life, Warlocks are inevitably drawn to its crackling emerald magnificence. The cackling technophiles known as Warlock Galvaneers unleash storms of lightning from unstable warpvolt obliterators that turn enemy warriors to ash.
Master Moulder
Master Moulders are the supreme authorities on Skaven flesh-science, genius morphologists rippling with mutation. They are just as happy to experiment on their own bodies as those of others, and shamble into battle with the results of years of deranged work stitched into their very flesh.
Acolyte Globadiers
The deadly gas contained within poisoned wind globes cares not for crude armour and sorcerous wards, and only the foolhardy Acolyte Globadiers are willing to risk their own lives to use them. The warpstone-tainted gas kills at an astonishing pace, and the masked faces of these Acolytes strike fear into any unfortunates who come under their bombardment.
Warpspark Weapon Battery
Weapon teams equipped with wondrous technology from the Clans Skryre armouries are comparatively lucky for Skaven: they get to sit back and turn their deadly firepower upon enemies far beyond the reach of a hammer or spear. This set builds three teams which can be equipped with Warpvolt Scourgers, Ratling Guns, or Warpfire Throwers.
Warp-Grinder
Warp-Grinders are the machines that make Skaven Gnawholes erupt. A warp-drill fang burrows holes through reality itself to create instant passageways across the battlefield, and they can be turned on enemies for good measure.
Stormvermin
Not all Skaven are skittish, opportunistic cowards – just the vast, vast majority – and those possessed a warrior’s instinct for discipline are trained from birth to join the ranks of the Stormvermin. This unit of 10 elite warriors contains all the parts needed to make a full command element, and pair thick armour with lethal Stormvermin weapons that are especially deadly against charging foes.
Doom-Flayers
Doom-Flayers are among the strangest and most dangerous of Skryre inventions, racing around the front lines and careening headlong into troops who had believed themselves protected. This pack contains two Doom-Flayers with multiple head and hand options.
Brood Terror
The Brood Terror is an apex predator, a horrific amalgam of biological mutations and profane machinery that rips its prey apart just as easily as it roasts them with its warpflame scourger. This towering kit is an excellent centrepiece for Skaven armies, and a wonderfully varied project for avid painters with flesh, metal, cloth, and bone to work on.
Skaven Reinforcements
These new Skaven reinforcements are joined by kits fresh from the Skaventide boxed set and a few extras. First up are Clanrats, Rat Ogors, Warplock Jezzails, and the Clawlord on Gnawbest, who all get their first standalone pre-orders this week.
