The Tithes Episode 1 – A Deadly Return to the Pariah Nexus

The first episode of Warhammer TV’s latest animation is now live!

The Tithes is a three-part anthology exploring some of the stranger aspects of the Imperium – and we return to the Pariah Nexus in the first episode, entitled Sacrifice. The Imperium has had a rough time in this eerie corner of the galaxy lately: Necron tomb worlds have been popping up all over, and elements of the Ultramarines have been deployed to put these long-dormant xenos back in the ground for good.

On the Planet of Paradyce III, things did not go quite to plan. To see exactly how not to plan things went, check out the Pariah Nexus series, which takes place shortly before the events of this story. What the ill-fated battles of Paradyce III do provide though, are some truly awe-inspiring vistas: ruined gothic arches, fallen Titans, and the rising obsidian obelisks of Necron reclamation.

The star of Sacrifice is Brutus, an Ultramarines Apothecary. He looks a little different from those we’ve seen before, in that he is in gravis armour and equipped with a narthecium. His heraldry is different – though within the parameters of the Codex Astartes as it still comprises the traditional mix of Chapter-blue with the white of the Apothicarion. The red of his shoulder pad indicates his assignment to the 3rd Company.

Brutus’ role on Paradyce III is critical, and he knows it. He has been tasked to retrieve the gene-seed of his fallen brothers – the progenoid glands that are necessary to make new generations of Space Marines, and which ensure that the legacy of those warriors who died in battle continues. Not even in death does duty end, and Brutus will sacrifice anything to ensure his mission succeeds.

He is aided in this task by a familiar face – Sa’kan of the Salamanders, star of the Pariah Nexus series. The Ultramarines and Salamanders are both Chapters which have served the Imperium with loyalty and distinction, but they do not necessarily get along…

Even between these two honoured brotherhoods, there are distinct differences in outlook and world view – the philosophical empathy of Nocturne clashing with the indoctrinated axioms of Macragge.

Still, the two save their true enmity for the Necrons, and alongside an exploration of the distinct perspectives of these Chapters and the characters of these two Space Marines, there is also plenty of good, old-fashioned xenos-killing.

You can watch Sacrifice now on Warhammer TV, available exclusively to Warhammer+ subscribers. The next instalment will follow in a few weeks, and it will be the first Warhammer animation to feature a warrior pariah of the Silent Sisterhood.

If that weren’t enough excitement for this week, there’s even more to watch on Warhammer TV right now. Battle Report sees the Ossiarch Bonereapers take on the Nighthaunt in a 2,000-point battleplan from the latest General’s Handbook, while over on Loremasters you can learn about the Vanguard and Sacrosanct Chambers of the Stormcast Eternals.
